Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar here Saturday said, "We are committed to perform our duties and serve the nation strictly in accordance with law". The Chief Justice speaking at a symposium on establishment of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centers and Model Courts said "we would not forgive ourselves if failed to deliver quality justice."

Supreme Court's senior judge, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, session's judges, and representatives from the bar, police and prosecution department were also present on the occasion. CJP Saqib Nisar said doing justice was not an easy task as judges were dealt with cases involving life and death. Therefore, he said, the judges must have a good knowledge of the laws and should make decisions that would remain upheld before the higher courts. Chief Justice further said the judges had to meet the people's expectations by delivering justice under the existing laws, however, efforts to bring reforms in the laws should be continued. He said without lawyers' co-operation the judiciary could not do anything and any change in laws required a thorough deliberation so there will be no room for any error.

CJP lauded the efforts of the LHC Chief Justice for materializing pilot criminal justice project and ADR centers as success. He said significant results in the criminal justice system without changing the law proved that swift and quality justice could be ensured under the existing laws if there were interest and desire. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa said police department was the backbone of criminal justice system as its positive support could make the system work successfully. LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said there was a need to change minds to adapt to the new system.
